Medication Assisted Therapy
Sometimes referred to as MAT, medication assisted therapy helps counteract the negative withdrawal effects and cravings that can affect opioid users. Medication Assisted Therapy helps reduce withdrawal symptoms to help a person safely recover and transition to a life without opioid dependence. Buprenorphine and Naloxone (Suboxone) is a combination drug that helps reduce withdrawal, craving and misuse.
Counseling and 12 step programs are abstinence-based treatment programs within outpatient or residential facility settings.
